In my opinion, a webcam is an input device because it puts in information to the computer, like images or videos. It does not give outputs to users. :)
Good artists copy… Great artists steal.
Here is my review from the movie that I’ve just watched which is entitled ‘Pirates of Silicon Valley’.
CHARACTERS:
Honestly, I was appalled by Steve Jobs’ personality. I didn’t expect that he has ‘anger’ issues and even denied his child from the start. It took a while for him to finally accept his daughter. I also didn’t picture him as a hippie. He was known as a visionary and an artist and that was shown in the movie. He also takes risks and always takes big leaps in improving his company.
I find Bill Gates as a quiet man even from without watching the movie. He was the usual ‘geek’ that I’ve expected being the co-founder of Microsoft. He was brilliant but, I find him boring. I was quite impressed at how he handled the anger of Steve knowing that he was stealing from Apple. He was quiet but a smart man.
TITLE:
I think the reason why this movie was called ‘Pirates of Silicon Valley’ was because Jobs and Gates had a characteristic of a pirate, meaning - they steal from other people. I was again surprised that both great men of the ‘Computer World’ stole from other companies or people. Like when Apple got the idea of GUI from Xerox and Microsoft bought DOS from a random guy (which was not named but was from Seattle Computer products, :D ).
Microsoft also stole the idea of Apple, by helping them in developing the system of Macintosh, and making a better system thus the rise of Windows.
OPERATING SYSTEM:
From the film, I’ve just found out that Apple was ahead from Microsoft, I mean WAY ahead. Don’t judge me, but I thought that Microsoft was successful from the beginning while Apple just developed just a few years after Microsoft’s success. Maybe it was because of the downfall of Apple that’s why Microsoft was well-known to other people and the o.s that I’ve known since the start of my ‘computer learning’ was Windows. :)
Apple’s Operating System was based more on the artistic side. It is more on the Graphical User Interface. It was colored and probably easy to use. It was more interesting to people’s eyes from the start because of it’s uniqueness from it’s look. While Microsoft is more on the serious side, meaning they focus more on the language, focusing more on making an interpreter. Like the one they showed to Altair 8800. They are more on the performance rather than the interface of the system. That’s why they weren’t that popular from the computer fair.
* I’ve discovered a lot of things from this movie especially the truth behind how Apple and Microsoft was founded.
Saw this on an episode of Samantha Brown’s Passport to Europe and immediately added this on my bucket list.
The person I look up to. :)
